According to the resolution of ANAU Board of Trustees taken on November 6, 2018 in result of the unification of two chairs the Chair of Applied Mechanics and Graphics was established.

Former chair of Graphics was established at Armenian Agricultural Institute in 1942. The chairs were Karapet Amiryan, Hayk Karapetyan, Ara Amiryan, and Samvel Marikyan.  The chair of resistance of materials and engineering structures was headed by O. Saponjyan, V. Aleksanyan, V. Babajanyan, S. Melikyan, S. Daveyan, R. Minasyan, E. Kosemyan.

Parallel with academic-pedagogical activities large amount of scientific-research works are carried out in different areas of agriculture mechanization and theory of structures at the chairs. They embrace the questions of cutting plants of stems flexibility decomposition mechanics and development of agricultural machinery and equipment calculation theory, of large panels yielding constructions of high-rise buildings and their tension-deformation conditions, а study of theory on ground mechanics flexibility , agricultural machinery problems , questions on flying devices thin-walled laminar and tubular magnetic intense-deformed preparations, dynamic strength and stability problems of pressure pipes and tubular layerсs made of compositional materials, as well as other problems of agricultural machinery and mechanization.

Researches related to chain transfers and wind energy resources conducted by the chair of Graphics and Machine Equipment have gained international recognition.

Professors K. Amiryan and A. Amiryan, represented their reports at SAE International and their reports were recognized the best and the authors received special certificate and were chosen us members of SEA International.

Reteaches by K. Amiryan and A. Amiryan represented at CRDF in the USA won at the competition.

Electro-hydraulic stations of large and solid stones’ braeking  (Molnia-1 and Molnia-2) were designed and applied by the chair of resistance of materials. Rotation apparatus for stems cutting was designed and applied by A. Tarverdyan. Reports by the chair were represented at different international, republican and university scientific conferences.

Over 450 scientific reports, including 5 monographs by A. Tarverdyan, R. Minasyan, 3 textbooks, 13 scientific instructions were published by the chair, also 15 copyright were received. More than 50 instructions were developed and published. Lecturers A. Tarverdyan, R. Minasyan and V. Aleksanyan have supervised 8 doctoral thesises and 21 dissertations. Professor R. Minasyan was received state prize from Russian Federation, A. Tarverdyan became a member of RA NAS, and in 2014 he became an academician.
