The department of science of Armenian National Agrarian University was established in April, 2012. Yet in 1972 in Armenian Agricultural Institute and Yerevan Zoo Veterinary Institute scientific-research sectors were being organized, both had a common goal to coordinate and organize scientific works and papers. In August, 1998 the scientific sector was reorganized at Armenian Agricultural Academy, then the science department funded by government was established according to the necessity of a new form of science financing from the RA state budget. It had been headed by A. Aghababyan. Hrachya Tspnetsyan, doctor of economics, professor has been appointed as vice-rector for science since October, 2018.
Upon to the structural changes made by ANAU Board of Trustees on 6 November, 2018 the division of science coordination, scientific library, Scientific Research Institute of Food Science and Biotechnology, Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture Mechanization and Automation, H. Petrosyan Scientific Center of Soil Science, Melioration and Agrochemistry, Voskehat Educational and Research Center for Enology, Scientific Center for Agrobiotechnology, Laboratory of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Sanitary Expertise, Laboratory of Genetics, Selection and Feeding of Agricultural Animals, Agrarian Policy and Economics Research Center (APERC), Laboratory of Pesticide Synthesis and Plant Protection, Laboratory of Ecology and Organic Agriculture, Laboratory of Genofond and Selection of Plants, Biological Research Laboratory work under the supervision of vice-rector for science. The University, organizing its scientific activity, closely collaborates with the universities and scientific educational institutions in the Republic and abroad – Russia, the USA, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Germany, China, Spain, France, Norway, Serbia, Japan.

Upon the decision taken by ANAU Board of Trustees on November 6, 2018, the Structural subdivisions of the department are;
research coordination center, library, agricultural mechanization and automation, Scientific Research Institute of Food Science and Biotechnology, H. Petrosyan Research Institute for soil science, melioration and agrochemistry, Voskehat educationbal and Research Center of Enology, “Agrobiotechnology Scientific Center” Branch of ANAU Foundation, research canters of livestock selection, genetics and foddering, Plant Protection Pesticides, plant gene pool and selection, ecology and organic agriculture, veterinary medicine and Veterinary Sanitary Expertise, agricultural policy and economics, as well as lab of biological researches.

  • Developing new technologies by eco-biological ways to create virus free plant materials of vegetables, potato, forest trees,
  • Biotechnological researches of agricultural plants’ genetic properties, usage in selection and plants’ genetic resources conservation,
  • Developing and experimenting new agricultural plants and prevention and treatment of plant diseases,
  • Development of new technologies for receiving ecologically secured plant origin food in different climate zones of the RA, for degraded forests’ preservation and renewal technologies,
  • Breeding and improvement of agricultural animals and birds with high production features adaptive in different climate zones in the RA,
  • Livestock management, agricultural animal feeding, behavior systems’ development, creation of stable fodder base, creation of technologies of effective usage of above-mentioned,
  • Livestock breeding, non-traditional breeding (goat breed, hours breeding, rabbit breeding) conversation of genofond, recovery of breeding, monitoring, development and application of applied problems of programming and innovative technologies,
  • Diagnostics of livestock infectious and non infectious diseases, development of prevention measures,
  • Development and application of modern and effective biotechnologies in agricultural field,
  • Developing and application effective technologies for production, reproduction and reservation of food production and agricultural raw materials,
  • Automation of agricultural production technologies, projection of small volume agricultural machines, preparation of complex systems of service,
  • Studies on economic reforms, marketing, price forming and management of RA agro industrial complex,
