The chair of life safety was established in 1991. The first head of the chair was V. Hambadzumyan. In 1993-2001 the head of the chair was H. Sargsyan, doctor of sciences, professor, in 2001-2012 chair was headed by H. Hakobyan, in 2012-2017 the head was A. Aghasaryan. Since 2017 H. Hakobyan was appointed as the head of the chair. The labs of the chair are equipped with equipment and didactic materials, which allow conducting practical lessons.
Generally, scientific works are carried out in the following directions: improvement of agricultural production technology in radioactively contaminated soil, chemical conservation of straw and straw chemistry, improvement of grain feedstock simulators, development of transport ecology and traffic safety enhancement methods, efficient use of alternative sources of energy, implementation of security methods acts.

In the field of educational methodological and scientific activities, the chair collaborates with the Ministry of territorial administration, the relevant chair of National Polytechnic University of Armenia, Crises Management State Academy. Students create their successful careers in different divisions of the Ministry of territorial administration and emergency situations.
