On November 6, 2018, upon the decision of the Board of Trustees, the chairs of Exploitation of Agricultural Techniques, Agricultural Machinery Repair Technology and Agricultural Electrification were united into the chair of Agriculture Automation and Agricultural Machinery Exploitation.

In all the three above-mentioned chairs, professors have been conducting scientific research for years. Thus, in the former chair of Agricultural Machinery Exploitation, Scientific research works are implemented in two basic directions: the exploitation of agricultural machinery and the elaboration of new technologies of animal-breeding automation and small-scale machines. For effectively solving the problems of the exploitation of agricultural machinery, Prof. A.S. Margaryan develops the basics of agricultural engineering and technical service, Docent S.Kh. Papyan implements scientific research works on the identification, reconstruction and creation of equipment for the complex of potato cultivation and harvesting machines. Professor S.E. Margaryan, docents A.G. Davtyan and A.G. Mazmanyan have great achievements in the implementation of scientific research works in the development of new technologies and machinery for the aerobic and anaerobic treatment of manure and the production of biohummus, grinding machines for condensed, rough and juicy fodder, a mobile milking unit, a ventilation system for livestock buildings, etc. Lecturers of the chair have received about 100 copyright certificates and patents, several inventions have been patented in Canada, France, Federal Republic of Germany. More than 600 scientific works, various monographs, and manuals have been published.

The scientific research works carried out in the former Chair of Agricultural Electrification are mainly aimed at one of the main directions of agricultural electrification – the intensification of stationary processes of agricultural production under RA conditions. In cooperation with the Chair of Automobiles and Tractors, certain research works were carried out in connection with the improvement of the stability of the movement of machine-tractor units. Also, cooperative work was done by the Chair of Exploitation of Agricultural Techniques in the direction of development of small-scale shredder machine and justification of parameters. Based on the results of the research work of the lecturers of the chair, more than 178 works, including 5 educational manuals, were published and 25 copyrights and RA patents were received. Many reports were done at scientific conferences organized in the republic and abroad.

And the scientific research works of the former Chair of Agricultural Machinery Repair Technology include the research of dynamic processes of cutting in the system of metal cutting machines, the problems of improving the indicators of the technological process of soil cultivation and the structural improvement of soil cultivation tiller organs, also the problems of increasing their reliability and durability.

Adjacent to the chair are casting, welding, locksmithing, mechanical processing training workshops, as well as metal cutting, material science, interchangeability and technical measurement laboratories, which are equipped with appropriate technical means, and the metal cutting laboratory is equipped with an interactive smart board and a computer. Educational hands-on trainings in the subjects taught at the chair are organized in the educational laboratories and workshops of the chair, the chair also cooperates with “GaryGroup” LLC, “Interstanok” OJSC, “Armenian Molybdenum Production’s” “Electrasark” OJSC.
