The Chair of Animal Product Processing Technology after Professor Z.K. Dilanyan is one of the issuing chairs of the Faculty of Food Technology of ANAU, which prepares specialists with 4 educational programs: “Milk, dairy product, baby and functional food technology”, “Meat and meat product technology”, “Fish and fish product technology”, “Agricultural raw materials and food product expertise, standardization, certification”.

In order to prepare competitive specialists, the first and second year students of the mentioned professions spend their educational – cognitive trainings in industry leading enterprises, such as: “Daughter Marianna” LLC, “Bonilat” LLC, “Natfood” CJSC, “Bacon Product” LLC, “Standard Dialog” LLC, SPC “Armbiotechnology” SNPO NAS RA, “Roberto Piraloff”, and the third, fourth and fifth year students participate in the production processes of preparing various products.

In the classroom of the chair, which is equipped with computer equipment, lectures are accompanied by the showing of video films, video materials and presentations, which makes the presented material more visible and available. During the laboratory-practical trainings, the students are given the opportunity to develop the recipes of various types of foods (pure and sour dairy product, cheeses, meatloafs, sausages, basturma, sujukh, etc.), to carry out their laboratory preparation, and then to organize tastings and laboratory research of the obtained products.

In recent years, the students of the specialties of Food Expertise and Food Safety have presented their prepared products at Armprodexpo and international conferences held in ANAU, receiving positive opinions and a number of practical suggestions.

Since the 2018-2019 academic year, the materials of lectures and laboratory-practical trainings related to all subjects, being taught at the chair, are available to students on MOODLE electronic platform: it enables students to familiarize themselves with them rapidly and contact the professors if they have any questions.

The masters and graduate students of the chair carry out part of the scientific research work in the laboratories of the chair, the obtained results are published in various well-known periodicals.

The chair is involved as a participant and teaching member within the framework of the ABIONET international master’s program funded by the European Union.

The chair of Milk and milk product technologies of Yerevan animal husbandry and veterinary medicine was formed in 1930 by honored science activist, professor A. Qalantaryan.  Since 1993 the chair prepares specialists in the filed of meat and meat product production, since 1996 – fish and fish product production, since 2006 – agricultural raw material and food expertise, standardization and certification specialists.  Since 2008 the chair has been renamed into the chair of Chair of Animal Product Processing Technology.
