Chair of Life Safety was formed in 1991. The first head of the chair was professor, distinguished scientist V.Hambardzumyan. 2012-2017 the chair has been headed by professor A. Аghasaryan. Since April of 2017 the chair has been headed by professor H.Hakobyan.

The laboratories of labor protection and security in emergency situations are furnished with necessary equipments and didactic materials, which enable the laboratory and practical classes to be held in all specializations.

Scientific works are implemented in the following directions: agricultural production technologies in the radioactive contaminated lands, improvement of grain feedings-stuff grinders, feedings-stuff chemical conservation and straw chemicalization, improvement of transport environmental and increasing of traffic safety, the insurance of population security in the emergency situations, efficient usage of alternative energy resources. The group supervised by H.M. Sargsyan deals with architectonic studies of herbs; the plants’ ”constructional-structural” principles are used in engineering structures, which is a new direction in the science.
In the field of educational-methodical aspects the chair collaborates with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of the RA.
