Before the dissolution of the Soviet Union the Scientific Center of Viticulture, Fruit Growing and Wine Making had cooperated with research centers and higher education institutions of Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and other countries. 2003-2007 the Scientific Center cooperated with the Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (IPGR).
Since 2011 the Scientific Center has cooperated with YSU Chair of Genetics and Cytology, the Laboratory of Ecology and the COST (European Cooperation with Science and Technology) on FA-1003 "East-West Collaboration for Grapevine Diversity Exploration and Mobilization of Adoptive Traits for Breeding" project.
The aims of the project can be presented as follows:
- collection of local and wide grape varieties
- ampelographic, genetic and cytological analysis of local and wide grape varieties
- reproduction of local and wide grape varieties
- organization of trainings for young researchers in leading European scientific and education institutions.
