Armenian National Agrarian University
Faculty of Agronomy was established in 1930 on the base of yerevan State University Agricultural faculty,and until 1943 was named as faculty of Field Crop Cultivation. Famous scientist and lecturer, as well as the very first dean of the faculty - P.Qalantaryan has had a great contribution in the establishment of the faculty.In 1994 in result of unification of two Universities the Agrarian faculty was created in newly established university, which in 2002-2003 academic year was reformed inth the faculty of Agronomy.
2006-2018 the dean of faculty was candidate of agricultural sciences, docent Gagik Santrosyan. Since 2019 dean of faculty is candidate of agricultural sciences, docent Armenak Ter-Grigoryan .

Since its establishement faculty of Agronomy has had more than 15500 alumna. Chairs and problem laboratories of the faculty are equiped with necessary laboratory equipments, herbariums and computers, which promote the development of scientific-experimental skills among the students. Students pass their industrial and academic practices in scientific centers, teaching-experimental farms, as well as in different international companies in Armenia.
Enormous scientific research work is carried out in the problem laboratories and chairs of the faculty, which has an utmost scientific-practical importance for agrarian sphere of both the Republic and other countries in the region. The scientific works are mainly carried out in the following directions: elaboration technologies of ecologically safe plant cultivation products in different soil climate conditions in the RA, probation of grape farms, massive selection and creation of more efficient sorts’ genofond, surface cultivation of pasture lands, studies on the main issues concerning the struggle against weeds and etc.. More than 200 suggestion have been applied in the agriculture industry, including 40 new sorts of agricultural plants.
Faculty’s priority task is to ensure agricultural sector with highly qualified specialists in the following fields:
Faculty collaborates with UN Food and Agriculture Organization, educational institutionss of Russian Federation, the U.S.A., China, Germany, France, Sweden, Georgia and other countries.
